Rusev Will Not Return From Injury Until After WrestleMania

$

We all shed a tear earlier this week when word got around that Handsome Rusev had suffered a shoulder injury and may be gone “for some time.” There was still some lingering hope that he’d be back in time for WrestleMania, but anyone who watched him get annihilated at Fastlane probably understood this wasn’t going to be a “couple of weeks” sort of thing.

Inthis week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed that Rusev did indeed have shoulder surgery, likely on 3/9, and is expected to be out of action for around two months. Which of course means that WrestleMania is definitely out, but I mean … it’s probably not like he had anything to do this year other than be a warm body for The Dré. While Rusev is off television, Lana will be stationed at the Performance Center, where they’ll try to get her some in-ring reps on NXT shows.

My fervent hope is that Rusev’s injury becomes the main focus of the second half of this season of Total Divas (which is currently filming), and that he becomes everyone’s favorite hero (moreso), and returns to a gigantic babyface pop and push. You know; like what SHOULD have happened with Seth Rollins, but didn’t. They’ll probably do that for Rusev, right?

Right?

Charlotte Flair Is Undefeated Against Lana, Both In The Ring And On Twitter

Lana, the Ravishing Russian, has been a little bit of a fish out of water ever since she split from Rusev. She went from being one of the best around as a manager to being … well, I wouldn’t call her the “worst” wrestler on the main roster, but she’s definitely in one of the lower percentiles. But she’s new! She hasn’t really had much success in the ring so far, but she sure keeps getting title shots!

The Total Divas star took to Twitter on Wednesday to sort of unprompted and ill-advisedly tweet a taunt at Charlotte Flair, which reads like she thinks being a wrestler isn’t what she aspires to … as a wrestler in WWE.

Fans sort of dragged her for the tweet, but there was no retort more succinct or pointed than Flair’s:

Flair is a five-time women’s champion and is widely considered to be one of the best women wrestlers of her generation. Plus, her dad is Ric Flair, which is always good for some bragging rights. Lana is … winless in televised singles competition in WWE. So we’re just going to say Flair wins this one, too.

Lana seems to be taking it all in stride, however, and is doubling down on her assertion that looking good > wrestling well.

It is heartening to know that Lana plans on not only living to be 120 years old, but also to be looking DYNAMITE at that advanced age. We can only hope that she’s back with Rusev by the time she turns 120.

What would you even do for a 120th birthday party, anyway? (Other than pray for the merciful release of death, I mean.) You know what I would do? Dave and Buster’s. Even 120-year-olds can appreciate some video game trivia.

SZA Revealed That ‘SOS Deluxe’ Is Getting A Newly Revamped Title And So Much More Because To Her: ‘It’s A Whole ‘Nother Album’

At this point, it is hard to tell whether people were more excited for SZA’s sophomore album, SOS, or the corresponding deluxe edition. After releasing her steamy video for the breakout single “Snooze,” starring Justin Bieber, Benny Blanco, Woody McClain, And Young Mazino, fans were on high alert.

But after months of rumors, SZA has finally shared more details about the forthcoming release. On Friday, September 8, during her SOS Album Celebration show at The Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York, she treated concertgoers to vital information about SOS Deluxe.

In a video captured by a fan, SZA says, “So, the deluxe is like a whole nother album. It’s called ‘Lana.’ It’s seven to ten songs, and it’ll be out this fall.” The album’s title is an abbreviation of her SZA’s first name, Solána. This Easter egg is a common occurrence in SZA’s work, especially in her shows and music videos.

In May, SZA took to her official X (formerly Twitter) profile to shut down claims from people sharing an unverified tracklist and release date for the album. Although nothing about her superstar career has been routine, reimagining the beloved album is bold considering the massive success generated from tracks such as “Kill Bill” and more.

SZA Hinted At An ‘Intimate Mini Tour’ For Her ‘SOS’ Deluxe Album ‘Lana,’ But With One Special Stipulation

SZA’s time on the road could bleed into 2024. Although the “Kill Bill” singer only has a few dates left on the second North American leg of the SOS Tour, fans could have the opportunity to catch her live quite soon after it concludes. SZA hinted at a miniature tour run while sharing Lana, the modified deluxe version of her SOS album.

On Saturday, October 7, in a post uploaded to her official X (formerly Twitter) page, SZA proposed that idea to fans. “[I] was thinking I wanna do an intimate mini tour for [the] deluxe [album],” she wrote. “But ONLY in the most turnt cities from the ‘SOS Tour.’ I made a list. Y’all deserve a reward. I’m so grateful 🙏🏾❤.”

Followers who had attended one of her previous concert stops chimed in to advocate for their respective cities.

“Atlanta better be on it, niece,” wrote one.

SZA quickly replied, “U already know.”

If SZA does follow through with the smaller tour run, she wouldn’t be the first artist to pull it off. Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran simultaneously embarked on two distinctively different live show runs, the more significant production Mathematics Tour and the stripped-back Subtract Tour.

Ed Sheeran is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

It’s been nearly a year since SZA shared her highly anticipated sophomore album, SOS. Since then, the project has dominated the music charts and helped her sweep the awards season, including at the 2023 Billboard and Soul Train Awards. SOS is also predicted to sweep the 2024 Grammy Awards as SZA is the most nominated act of the year. Now that she’s wrapped up her record-setting supporting tour, fans are begging for the album’s deluxe version.

So when will SOS Deluxe album Lana come out? According to SZA’s recent activity on X (formerly Twitter), it will be soon. In a screenshot by Pop Crave, as one fan hypothesized that the project would be released along with a lead single and video in December, SZA seemed to subtly agree by liking the post.

On September 8, SZA revealed details about the album during a private show. “So, the deluxe is like a whole ‘nother album. It’s called ‘Lana.’ It’s seven to ten songs, and it’ll be out this fall,” she said in a video captured by an attendee.

Last month, SZA hinted that the project would get its own intimate mini-tour in the cities that showed the most support during her initial North American stops.

It’s been slightly over a year since SZA released her latest album, SOS, on December 9, 2022. For the past few months, SZA has been teasing a deluxe edition of the album, dubbed Lana (SZA’s full legal name is Solána Imani Rowe). There’s been no release date officially revealed yet, but now fans think SZA has covertly let the cat out of the bag.

In a series of social media posts, SZA shared what appears to be different cover art options for Lana, based on the fact that they’re all in a square aspect ratio, that they all have the parental advisory label on them, and that SZA captioned all the posts, “LANA.” Furthermore, a few of the photos feature SZA wearing a generic sports jersey with the number 15 on it, which has fans thinking the project will be released this Friday, December 15. SZA herself has yet to confirm the speculated release date.

A couple hours before those posts, SZA shared another one reflecting on SOS a year after its release. She wrote:

“a day late but Happy 1 year anniversary to an album that is ACTIVELY CHANGING MY LIFE .. like rn currently changing my life . I haven’t processed this year AT ALL cause it’s still happening .. this is beyond my wildest dreams . I never imagined we’d accomplish a fraction of the accolades that came from this .. it often doesn’t feel real and it’s funny cause I swore I’d know what to do if it ever happened [crying laughing emoji] turns out I I froze .. I know the perils of drinking the koolaid so I won’t dabble in that .. but I have to express the immense GRATITUDE I have for every person that made this possible . Every person that’s been apart of this journey. Thank you to GOD and to my incredible TEAM and My FAMILY . My ancestors . Thank you to every person that streamed this album ,came to a show , blasted it in traffic and connected w ANY part of me . To everyone that continues to believe in me and be patient w me as I figure it all out . your my driving force . I love you [heart hands emoji] [hearts emoji] #campforever #SOSFOREVER.”

“It’s outtakes [from SOS] and new stuff, too — I added a couple of songs,” SZA said. “It’s like a whole new project. SZA Slams People Leaking Her Songs Ahead Of The Singer’s ‘Lana’ Deluxe Album Release

SZA’s year is off to a rough start. Instead of enjoying the lingering effects of her record-breaking accomplishments last year, the “Snooze” singer has been forced to combat leakers.

“Leaking my music is stealing,” wrote SZA. “This is my job. This is my life and my intellectual property. You are a f*cking thief, and I promise to put maximum energy into holding everyone accountable to the full extent of the law. I am tired.”

Unfortunately, SZA is no stranger to having her unreleased work illegally shared with the public. During a sit-down with Variety in November, she discussed the devastating effects of leaking an artist’s music.

“When people leak my songs, they ruin them,” she said. “Then it’s not mine anymore; it’s actually yours. It’s something unfinished that you decided was ready to be shared. And it’s like, ‘F*ck you. Now I’m not releasing it.’ Play your leak, but you’re not gonna bully me into dropping music. I’m now embarrassed by this less-than-correct version that you put out. You’ve sent me into a weird space creatively when you could have just waited for me, but you’re selfish.”

SZA has officially had enough, and her post on X was her way of putting those individuals on notice.

SZA Murders The 2024 Grammy Awards Audience With A Performance Of Her Hit Songs ‘Snooze’ And ‘Kill Bill’

As the most nominated artist of the 2024 Grammy Awards, all eyes are on SZA. Just days before the coveted ceremony, The Recording Academy announced that the “Snooze” singer would take the stage. During her sit down with Apple Music, SZA confessed that she initially got into music to her naysayers wrong.

But after reaching massive success, SZA is well beyond that, and her Grammy performance proved that. After pulling out of the 2023 VMAs, her onstage set during the 2024 Grammys carried that much more weight. SZA knocked it out of the park without skipping a beat, performing her first No. 1 song and hit single “Kill Bill,” along with some of “Snooze.”

In May 2023, SZA shared a touching note after learning of the milestone. “Took me over a week to process ’cause I dreamt of this my entire career,” she said. “It didn’t feel real, lol, and still doesn’t. But I wanna say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. Every person, every fan base, every ear that listened and pushed for me. Can’t believe we have a number 1 record.”

At the 2024 Grammys, SZA is up for nine awards, including Album of the Year (SOS), Song and Record of the Year (“Kill Bill”), Best Progressive R&B Album (SOS), Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Love Language”), Best R&B Song (“Snooze”), Best R&B Performance (“Kill Bill”), Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Low”) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Ghost in the Machine”).

SZA Debuted A New Song, ‘Saturn,’ From Her Upcoming Album ‘Lana’ In A New Mastercard Campaign During The 2024 Grammys

SZA has had an incredible night at the 2024 Grammy Awards tonight (February 4). During a special performance from the Grammy House, the prolific hitmaker — who already won two Grammys tonight, for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Phoebe Bridgers collaboration, “Ghost In The Machine” and Best R&B Performance for “Snooze” — debuted a new song, “Saturn” from her upcoming album, Lana.

On the song, SZA laments her time in an environmentally unconscious world.

“Stuck in this paradigm / Don’t believe in paradise / This must be what hell is like / There’s got to be more, got to be more Sick of this head of minе / Intrusive thoughts, they paralyze / Thе fun is done, to summarize,” she sings on the song’s hook.

The accompanying advertisement features SZA joined by dancers, moving to the music in a greenscape. It ends with SZA announcing her partnership with Mastercard and the Priceless Planet Coalition. The Priceless Planet Coalition aims to restore 100 million trees in forests around the world that have the greatest potential positive impact on the climate, for communities and for nature.

“It takes more than one person or one company to create scaled impact for the planet,” said Rustom Dastoor, EVP of Marketing and Communications, Mastercard North America, in a statement. “Music does more than unite us, it inspires us to take action. Through our GRAMMY Awards campaign, we are merging passion and purpose in a way that, through a major cultural event, rallies people to come together through the power of music to create collective action for the planet.”

Over a year after its release, SZA’s sophomore album, SOS, still has the music charts in a chokehold. On February 4, it even took home multiple awards at the 2024 Grammys, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Ghost in the Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers, Best R&B Song for “Snooze,” and Best Progressive R&B Album.

But SZA is ready to kick off a new era of music by way of her forthcoming Lana.

When Does SZA’s ‘Lana’ Deluxe Album Come Out?

According to fan-circulated rumors across X (formerly Twitter), Lana will hit streaming platforms on February 9. However, the reports are too good to be true. After several posts and deletes from fan pages, SZA has denied the claims.

In a message exchange with a fan, SZA laughed off the rumors. “I just liked the photo,” she wrote. “LMAO, it’s not coming out on 2/9. I’m sorry, lmao. I like jerseys.”

The photograph in question was uploaded by a fan who attended a private event curated by SZA, apparently during pre-Grammys festivities this year. Attendees believed the numbers on the two models’ wardrobes were a subtle confirmation.

Still, SZA, her manager Terrence ‘Punch’ Henderson, nor her record label Top Dawg Entertainment have confirmed the release date for Lana. In fact, they might’ve suggested that delays could be on the horizon following leaks.

But during the 2024 Grammys broadcast, SZA partnered with Mastercard to preview the song “Saturn,” set to appear on the Lana.

SZA Isn’t Fazed Over Her Grammys ‘Album Of The Year’ Loss: ‘I’m Grateful I Won Three’

Per usual, the Grammys have prompted discourse about the coveted Album Of The Year award. Many viewers were disappointed that SZA’s critically acclaimed sophomore album SOS didn’t win the award, however, SZA herself didn’t seem to be fazed.

On the night of the 2024 Grammys, SZA won three awards — Best Progressive R&B Album for SOS, Best R&B Song for “Snooze,” and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Phoebe Bridgers collaboration, “Ghost In The Machine.” In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, SZA expressed her gratitude for winning those three awards, despite not winning Album Of The Year.

“I’m grateful I won three,” SZA said. “I could have left with nothing and I didn’t, and I’m grateful. My parents got to see it and I didn’t bomb on live television, and that was so scary. And I faced some really big fears and I’m just happy that it all went well, genuinely. And I’m happy for everybody.”

Also on Grammy night, SZA delivered a killer performance of the SOS fan favorites, “Kill Bill” and “Snooze.” She also shared a new song, “Saturn,” which is said to appear on her upcoming album, LANA.

When asked about the new album, SZA remained tight-lipped, noting that she doesn’t want the energy of the album to change.

“I’m just kind of here while energy is forming and I’m just trying to allow it to do what it needs to do, and my voice just follows whatever the frequency is,” she said. “So I feel like I want to allow it to finish shaping itself and form itself before I speak on it and possibly change the trajectory of what it could be. But I will say I’m in a beautiful space creatively and I feel just very new.”

SZA Shared ‘Saturn,’ Her Down-To-Earth New Single From Her Upcoming ‘Lana’ Album

It’s been an incredible month for SZA. At this year’s Grammys, the “Snooze” hitmaker took home three awards, delivered a killer performance of two of her SOS fan favorites, and launched an environmentally conscious partnership with Mastercard. As part of the launch, she premiered a new commercial, which contained a preview of a new song, “Saturn,” from her upcoming SOS reissue, LANA.

Today (February 22), SZA finally released “Saturn” on streaming platforms.

On “Saturn,” SZA finds herself questioning the meaning of life, and wondering if the condition of the world around her is currently as good as it’s going to get.

“Sick of this head of mine / Intrusive thoughts, they paralyze / Thе fun is not as advertised / Therе’s got to be more, been here before,” SZA sings on the song’s hook.

According to a press release which accompanied the initial launch of SZA’s Mastercard campaign, “Saturn” will appear on LANA, however, she has not shared an official release date for the project. The audio bundle for “Saturn” comes with the standard version of the song, a live version which was featured in the Mastercard campaign, an instrumental, a sped-up version, and an acapella version.

You can listen to “Saturn” above and stream the audio bundle here.

It looks like we may finally be getting SZA‘s long-awaited follow-up to her critically-acclaimed sophomore album, SOS. She began teasing Lana, a deluxe edition to SOS, which she says has since evolved into it’s own body of work, back in early 2023. Now, it looks like it might finally be arriving soon.

Yesterday, SZA took to social media to tease visuals and music from the upcoming project. In the clip, she is seen dancing in a tent in her undergarments. A new song plays in the background, containing the lyrics “F*ck around and die over community d*ck / Never fight over community d*ck.”

Fans are eager to hear the new project in its entirety. In the comments, a fan asked about the song “Diamond Boy,” a fan-favorite of which portions have already leaked online. SZA revealed that “Diamond Boy” will, in fact, appear on Lana, saying that the song is “on the deluxe I’m Bout to drop.”

So far, SZA has only shared “Saturn” from Lana. She began sharing potential cover artworks for the album late last year.

At the time of writing, she has not shared a release date for Lana, but fans can look forward to hearing her on a remix of Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” coming this Friday (March 15).

SZA Has Reportedly Had To Start The ‘Lana’ Deluxe Album ‘From Scratch’ Allegedly Due To Leaking

The curious case of tweeters and deleters strikes again. This time, instead of a rapper wrapped up in beef, SZA is at the helm of an online snafu. As fans patiently await the release of her long-teased SOS deluxe follow-up, Lana has hit another snag, allegedly due to continuous leaks.

On March 25, the “Kill Bill” singer reportedly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update regarding the forthcoming project. In the now-deleted post, she slammed leakers and revealed that supporters should expect another delay.

“So, we’ll make this really simple,” she wrote. “Y’all leaked three songs from the deluxe. At this point, y’all can keep the throwaways and leaks. I’ll be starting ‘Lana’ from scratch. Do not ask me about it again. Thank you.”

This isn’t the first time SZA has reportedly put leakers on notice. Back in January, she threatened to take legal action.

“Leaking my music is stealing,” she wrote. “This is my job. This is my life and my intellectual property. You are a f*cking thief, and I promise to put maximum energy into holding everyone accountable to the full extent of the law. I am tired.”

Fans were excited that the album would drop soon after SZA teased and released its lead single, “Saturn,” following the 2024 Grammys. Now, Lana‘s future looks quite cloudy.

We have yet another update on SZA‘s upcoming album, Lana. Originally set to be an extended version of SOS, the seemingly mythical Lana has had fans waiting with great fervor. However, it looks like we’re still going to have to wait a a bit longer.

Earlier this week, the “Snooze” hitmaker said that as a result of fans leaking songs from Lana, she would be starting the project over. But tonight (March 26), it appears she’s had a change of heart.

SZA took to Twitter to explain to fans that she will, in fact, give the leaked material a formal release.

“Will be dropping the leaks and outtakes from SOS as promised as the deluxe asap,” SZA said. “Lana deserves more time and music no one’s ever heard before. seems fair. Bless.”

She continued, saying that keeping up with the leaks was very taxing on her, and decided that it was easier to simply share the material as a gift with fans, and for Lana to evolve as its own body of work.

“I decided w all the leaks and me not knowing what someone has or doesn’t have it’s too complicated so I should jus consolidate the leaks and the outtakes and drop that as to not prolong the process and then focus on my next project as a win win for everybody,” she said.

Now, as for a release date, we’ll believe it when we see it.

Glastonbury 2024 has already served as a platform for political message (as seen in Idles set). But over at BST Hyde Park 2024, SZA had some important news to share with fans.

Today (June 29), the “Kill Bill” singer seemingly confirmed that her long teased album, Lana, is on the way and teased her forthcoming song. After tracks from were leaked online, SZA reportedly scrapped the project, leaving fans heartbroken.

“New album, y’all ready,” she asked the crowd.

https://twitter.com/ctrlalteilish/status/1807177642954649816

Following the sold-out set, SZA took to her X (formerly Twitter) page to further the hype with a teaser clip. The visual featured SZA covered in body and prosthetics. The video leaned into the Mother Nature aesthetic heard on her previous single, “Saturn.” But instead of dialed up the tranquil element, transforming herself into what appears to be a sexy alien grasshopper hybrid.

The caption of the upload featured the lyrics featured throughout the teaser. “I know you told stories about me. Most of them awful. All of them true. Here’s some for u,” wrote SZA.

Although SZA hasn’t disclosed when supporters should expect the project. But prior to Lana‘s leak, SZA revealed the album was near completion. So for fans sakes, they hope it is shared before the summer ends.

SZA Gives A Promising Update On Her New Album ‘Lana,’ Which Comes From ‘A More Beautiful Place’

One of the most anticipated albums of 2024, or 2025, or whenever it comes out is SZA’s Lana (not to be confused with Lana Del Rey’s new album). It was originally intended as an extended version of 2022’s massive SOS, but after a few songs leaked to the public, the album has since become its own thing.

SZA gave an update on Lana in a recent interview with British Vogue. “I think I am making music from a more beautiful place. From a more possible place versus a more angsty place,” she said. “I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s shit that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

SZA also discussed headlining Glastonbury earlier this year. “I just felt like nothing I could do would be enough for Glastonbury, no matter what I did. It scared me. I was like, well, I wish I wasn’t doing it, but I couldn’t walk away from it…” she said. “I want to be the second Black woman in history, but then it’s such a f*cking tall order. It’s like, no matter what you do here, you will be subject to criticism. Because of who you are. But that’s life. That’s life, you know?”

In 2022, SZA released her long-awaited sophomore album SOS. Since then the chart-topping body of work has continued to set or break records. But, the “Kill Bill” singer doesn’t plan on taking another five year gap between projects.

Yesterday (November 23), SZA teased the projected timeline of her next project. During her appearance on Kai Cenat‘s livestream, SZA
promised to release her highly anticipated follow-up (viewable here). When asked about when supporters should expect it, SZA replied: “It’ll be out before the year is over.”

The announcement shocked Kai, Lizzo (who was also a special guest on the stream), and users online. SZA didn’t share any further information about the forthcoming album. However, many believe the album in question Lana, the at one-time deluxe version of SOS.

Earlier in the month, SZA gave British Vogue an update about Lana.

After supposedly scrapping a version of the project due to leaks, Lana has experience several setbacks. Fortunately for SZA supporters, she seemingly powered through.
